IB Global Youth Action Fund Award

The Global Youth Action Fund is a partnership between International Baccalaureate and the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN). Ryan's was one of a select number of projects that are aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals chosen to receive a $3000 grant and provided social entrepreneurship mentorship by the UN SDSN and introductions to global social entrepreneur leaders.

The Earth Prize 2024 Top 10 Finalist

Ryan’s project, SensoryAI, was selected as a Top 10 Finalist for the Earth Prize 2024. The contest is the largest global environmental competition for teenagers and its 2024 cohort comprises high school teams from Canada, Egypt, New Zealand, United States, Turkey, United Kingdom and Vietnam, selected from entries by thousands of students in 117 countries and territories.​

Broadcom Masters

Top 30 Finalist

September 2020

Broadcom MASTERS, a program founded and produced by the Society for Science & the Public, and the Broadcom Foundation, is the nation's premier Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) middle school competition. It is the only middle school STEM competition that leverages Society-affiliated science fairs as a crucial component of the STEM talent pipeline. Students need to place within the top 10% of their local county/state fairs to be eligible to participate in Broadcom MASTERS. In 2020 3456 students applied, and the top 30 finalists were announced in September 2020.

Red Cross Disaster Services Hero Award

August 2020

As the community leader in emergency preparedness, prevention and response, the American Red Cross honors individuals whose extraordinary acts of courage and kindness make them heroes. Four heroes are selected once a year based on the degree to which their acts of heroism uphold the values of the American Red Cross and leave a lasting and positive impact on the residents of Orange County.

Disaster Services Hero: An individual or an organization that has exhibited heroic efforts in any or all of the areas of disaster services, including preparedness, response or recovery during a natural disaster or emergency situation through mission-driven response assistance to people in need.

​

The Selection Committee consists of community volunteers and business leaders who review and vote on all of the submitted nominations. While there was a Youth Award category, the Red Cross decided to give Ryan their Disaster Services Hero Award which is one of their adult catgeroies.

LearningPlanet Youth Fellowship

Ryan has been named one of LearningPlanet's Youth Fellows.​

 

The program aims to recognize and connect inspirational game changers transforming the world through fields including education, rights, well-being and health, and sustainability.

Naval Science Award

March 2020

The Office of Naval Research (ONR) sponsors scientific research for the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. ONR has a long history of sponsoring science that changes the world, from past discoveries like the magnetic core memory that is the basis of every computer to GPS in the '80s, and to the smart robots that searched the remains of the World Tarde Center to the technology that found the wreckage of the Titanic.

The Navy and Marine Corps stay at the cutting edge of science and technology by nurturing world-class scientists and engineers throughout their careers. Ryan was offered the prestigious ONR Naval Science Award when presenting his project at the Orange County Science and Engineering Fair.

Ignite Innovation Student Challenge Grand Prize

May 2019                      

Ryan won the Discovery Education & Tata Consultancy $10,000 Grand Prize for the national ignite innovation student challenge science competition.

​

While in 5th grade, Ryan won the grand prize for the TCS Discovery Education “Ignite Innovation Student Challenge", a national contest in which students in Grades 6 – 8 are challenged to create a digital solution that solves a problem in one of these areas: Health, Our Planet, or Education.
